Your most treasured Andre Previn LSO recordings:

I have yet to hear the Bournemouth SO live, an omission which I intend to repair next season with a trip to Poole. They have had some very fine conductors - Silvestri (a great Tchaikovsky 6th and *that* recording of Elgar's In the South), Berglund... and now Karabits is highly thought of too.

A seasonal choice: the BSO/Berglund version of Alfven's Midsommervarka is a truly lovely, joyful thing.

I've got the remastered Turangalila on the way in the 100th Anniversary box set, rather exciting and it also fills in a few gaps in my Messiaen selection.

Must have a listen to Belshazzar's feast tonight.

I have always admired Previn for conducting and especially for Gershwins Rhapsody in Blue, excellent pianist . went to watch him conducting at Fairfield Hall in Croydon xx years ago!

Most of it is unimpeachable but I have a special affection for the VW symphonies on Gold Seal. I recall avidly collecting the LPs.
