Your favourite mafia film or related actors films etc

hifilover1979

Bigger than you...
I'm slowly but surely educating my wife in the finery of mafia films / related films with the same actors etc...

We've finally watched The Godfather trilogy and to my surprise (and proud husband as well) Ali said the 2nd was the best but the 3rd the more informative etc...

We've not got through Goodfellas yet.

But just watched Cop Land (hell of a cast with Bob De Niro and Ray Liotta in there) and she thoroughly enjoyed that...

What are your go to mafia films or films with the usual suspects in (de Niro, Liotta, Harvey Keitel, Joe Pesci etc)?

What about other 'classics' like Tombstone (one of the best modern westerns IMO)?

You’ve set a high bar! Goodfellas and The Sopranos next and yer done for mafia. My missus loves both.
Otherwise…Casino, The Untouchables, Once Upon A Time in America…?

Untouchables. Superb film.. She fell asleep during that

Sopranos - that's lined up and she'll weather that better with it being a series.

OUATIA is a stunning film but at nearly 3 hours long she'll cave too easily haha

And Casino, already lined up for next week when I'm back.. iTunes have just made it available (I've no idea where my DVDs are) haha

Some classics already covered, also consider:
Donnie Brasco
Mean Streets

If a UK connection is allowed then also The Long Good Friday

The Irishman cast includes de Niro, Pesci, Pacino and Keitel; the "de-ageing" is interesting but the film slightly disappoints overall.

The Suburra series on Netflix were superb.

If we expand beyond the traditional mafia, the various Narcos series, also on Netflix, were all extremely well done.

Ronnie Brasco already covered. Enjoyed that...

Agree re The Irishman... I'll hold off on that one for now

No...

Proper films...

Quentin Taritino has done some superb films but Pulp Flixton isn't one of the superb ones...

Rally, OK, one of the greatest movies ever made IMO. I rarely watch movies more than once, but if PF is playing while channel surfing I find myself re-watching it from someplace in the middle, the end or wherever, great storytelling & characters, they pull me back in!
