I’m surprised I haven’t seen a post for this (have I missed it?).
Oddly it is the snooker thread in the other topics that prompted me to post. I found two of the young musicians in the final last night technically brilliant but just didn’t mesmerise me. I feel the same about the snooker final - good players but dull to watch for long periods.
However, the fact that a marimba player (Fang Zhang) could win YMOY was a delight to me and his playing really was mesmerising. Watch his performance and the cheeky grin to the orchestra conductor towards the end of his piece. Brilliant playing.... Anyone else see it?
Seems you need to be called Zhang to do well in this competition.... a winner three years ago and a special award this year for a promising artist (exceptional 11 year old pianist)
