Yamaha A-S701 phono.

I have just got an early Rega P3 and tried it into my A-S701 MM input. Two test records show a several dB peak centred at 14.5 kHz.

Looking at the schematic, the MM input has 1k in series and 470pF to ground. This seems high for the Rega cartridge.

Anybody know what the P3 cable capacitance is like?

Around 100pf, if I'm not mistaken? Though I recall having an A-S501 (same phono) and finding the MM input muddy sounding and lacking definition.

The published schematic simulates to show a reduced bass and slightly boosted >1 kHz
I have seen the break down photos and the phono section looks easy to modify
