X Factor

Oh shit, it's dad rock week. This is just horrible beyond belief.

Tony.
It was bad.
The panel had nothing new to say - I'm sure they read their comments from a panelists phrase book.
One bloke was in a huge sulk, the rock guy with the afro did his worst performance, some of the others tried to pretend to do rock.
John & Edward did a good show as usual (I'm sure they're going to get their own TV series!).

I need the TV as I want to watch the Francis Bacon doc on BBC4 in five minutes!

Tony.

The Arena programme on Bacon was excellent.

So was the show which followed featuring Bacon in his own words and some footage never seen before.

You could understand why the footage had never been shown before. When Bacon leaned too close to the camera his head was partly cropped off.

I've seen the Love Is The Devil movie that closed the Bacon evening before. I know the bloke who edited it.

Derek Jacobi is great as Bacon. But I thought the movie was less striking than the Arena documentary.

I met Henrietta Moraes, who Bacon painted 15 times, on a couple of occasions. She was cool. Unfortunately she went back to drinking and drugging and died in 1999.

It must be shit to die. But if it means you miss X Factor, then it does have its bonuses.

These things were fine for novelty value, but it's gone too far and now the problem is that young kids grown up wanting to be 'a star' and no-one ever talks about wanting to be a musician. They have little interest in music, only fame. Anyway, how do all these kids know who Whitney is anyway? They all worship her, but she was decades ago! Before most of them were born! What's all that about?

With Christmas coming up it's the same in publishing. Serious authors are having a real struggle getting published because the mass sales are with Celeb biographies, and there currently is a huge campaign against this. Whether anything comes of it, we'll no doubt know in good time. I'm sure Richard Hammond & Katie Price will have another one out this year, as always.

I don't agree that Celeb Publishing, C4 TV Reality & X-Factor manufactured music is as harmless as you make out. For every new manufactured tabloid 'star' there is a band not getting their first deal and a new author not getting published.

Art has been shat on to be replaced with mass commercialism stoked by the tabloids. It's a great shame that the public are so thick.

John & Edward did a good show as usual (I'm sure they're going to get their own TV series!).

Such a shame Jedward can't sing.

They have little interest in music, only fame.

This form of sickness that should be notifiable IMO.
