I'm accumulating quite a few items of 70's gear with veneered cases. I have a Sony TC377 reel-to-reel, a Technics amp and tuner and my latest purchase which I'm collecting tomorrow is a Luxman L31 amp. All of these have veneered cases and all of them could do with a bit of a tidy up but I'm not sure how to go about it.
I was thinking about maybe removing the case from the equipment (obviously!), taking out any ventilation grilles and spray painting them and then sanding the cases themselves, but I don't know what the wood is finished with. I don't think its varnish. Anyone know?
