Winter election II

When Boris Johnson kept on making the point about the public not knowing how Jeremy would vote on any new Labour Brexit deal, I thought Mr Corbyn should have been more prepared in giving better answers. Even by saying how rubbish Johnson's deal is, how any Labour deal would be better for the many not just the few. Explained how the ultra rich were the ones who will benefit the most from Brexit.

Also, the piece of paper Corbyn had regarding USA and the NHS he could have used a lot more effectively. it could have been a great prop. He seemed to struggle to read what was even on it. In fact i can't even remember what he said. He should have been vigorously waving it around any time Johnson said anything about the NHS. "Here is the proof."

I’m afraid voters like this deserve everything they get. He’s in higher education? Then he’s apparanyly intelligent enough to understand what he’s advocating. It’s why I’m in favour of ( if it’s going to happen) the full Brexit that Farage, Tice and many in the Tory leadership are actually calling for.
I find it quite worrying that supposedly intelligent people can be so lacking in critical faculties. I suppose it goes a long way to explaining why we are are where we are and why, each in their own way, our political leaders are of such poor quality. The exception appears to be Scotland. Is there something in the water up there?

Still, if our dog shit in the park friend up thread is reflective of a lot of voters, God help us!

Well, we don’t particularly want to live in a country where a government has a stated aim of ending capitalism and turning the country into a socialist state. McDonnell frightens the hell out of me almost more than Corbyn. The tragedy is, they think they’ll raise all this extra money and they won’t. Even if they did it would just disappear into a vacuum of waste and bureaucracy. Business will just base elsewhere. For those remaining, the reward won’t be worth the effort required. Do you appreciate how hard it is to build any form of pension provision in the private sector? In hindsight, I should have just joined the civil service out of Uni, I’d be sitting very pretty with no risk taken whatsoever. Only trouble is, it’s all unaffordable. Oh, and Diane Abbott in the cabinet and in charge of our security would just about seal it.

Yet the Conservatives are proposing an increase in public spending and an expansion of the state on a scale not seen since the 1970s. Does that make you feel uneasy?

Less so. I’m the first to support spending and investment but it must be affordable. The Torys have actually turned the screw quite a lot over recent years, dividend and property taxes, pension changes etc. The IR35 shambles is the sort of policy I’d expect from labour. However, they don’t want to end capitalism.

As are election results!

At least polls only seem to empower a bunch keyboard and soc media warriors. Elections give the psycho hubris merchants real executive power to screw things up. And we let them get on with it, whilst opining and grumbling from the sidelines.

Try and watch last night's Channel 4 News. Not only does the editor of the FT think capitalism has major problems, and so McDonell isn't completely wrong, so do many economists and former political advisors.

You will leave the UK if Corbyn gets in, I possibly will if he doesn't. The thought of a racist, far-right Tory government in power - led by a known liar - for another five years is appalling.

where is this ’stated aim of ending capitalism’?

My take from what I have seen is that the public may see both candidates as equally poor. I think JC dissembling on his own personal brexit position doesn't play well, yes I know why he is doing this but it looks like evasion. Boris is just a complete blustering fool & a danger to the country.

Two fat, right-wing racists exchange unpleasantries in front of a dog-shit park. It sums Johnson up perfectly. I've been trying to work out whether they are somewhere like Stoke or Guildford.

Jack
This is where Britain has wound up. Meanwhile the Chinese Ambassador to Britain refuses to be summoned to the Foreign Office for reprimand, instead the British Ambassador to Beijing has been summoned and warned to cease interference in Chinese domestic affairs. You can see where this is heading- Britain is going to take a kicking on the way down. Outside the EU it’ll be picked off by greater powers while it’s busy launching its Global Leader in Free Trade cosmetics.

Don't listen to Vox pops. Don't read opinion polls. Their purpose is to enrage and demoralise.
Problem is, people do listen to them. I hope I’m sufficiently aware that I can draw in context, and make decisions, but many people seem to be content to have their decisions validated by following the herd. The vox pops and opinion polls pretend to show them the direction the herd is taking.

It would seem there’s an obese racist dog shit man on every street but one can hope.

You have your views, I have mine. I suppose we should both count ourselves lucky we have choices and options.
