Why the RAF doesn’t do poppy drops anymore

Tony Lockhart

Avoiding Stress, at Every Opportunity
I was told about this at work yesterday by a guy who worked on the BBMF for five years. Hilarious, but could’ve gone so very, very wrong. Needs a little volume.

That flew over Marchbanks Towers last year. It was audible about a minute before being visible - what an amazing noise! I stared at it open-mouthed - it barely seemed to be skimming the tree-tops - thinking ‘but that’s a... but that’s a...’. Then I thought about checking Plane Finder, and sure enough it was. The only disappointment was discovering that it wasn’t a fly-past in my honour at all, but a journey en route to the Three Counties Fair thirty miles away. Apparently when it got there it made a splendid circuit of the wrong field, so I ended up getting a much better view.

Edit: given the Covid situation, it was in fact probably the year before.
