I was pondering the other day when Louis Armstrong popped up on my Spotify playlist how he is by far my favourite trumpet player while also being one of the few that the general public would recognise. A classic case of the obvious answer being the 'right' one. OK, he was never as cool as Miles, particularly in his later years, but no one sounded like him, had that sheer, vibrant power. I recently read a biography of him 'An extravagant life' & my admiration of him grew enormously. Another example of the obvious answer being correct is, of course, The Beatles. I am sure there are others, apologies for yet another pointless subjective post
