What value R to use ??

To attenuate the CD input for a nac42.5/62

I've got a hunch that the volume pot isn't so hot at it's lower sweep. I'm going to rig up a R from signal to ground.

Can any one suggest a good value to try ? or does any one know the nominal R of the input stage ?

Or better still is there an easy way to reduce the gain of the input stage ?

A good place to start would be a 10K series followed by a 3K3 shunt to ground.
