I can’t find any useful information on who ‘King Kong’ are.

That would be a bunch of session musicians bought in to cut the album which may have even been European (eg Netherlands), not the UK based. Done that way to keep licencing costs down to a minimum to make a cheap LP.

I have that album. Great record, but original artists, not a tight covers band.
 
The sound of rain water dripping through the ceiling right next to my *****ing system - we're part way through a dormer extension!
 
Some might find this an interesting listen. They claimed to be Zappa-influenced but sounds like they also listen to a lot of Reich. Although on Bill Nelson's Cocteau imprint, it sounds like a long-lost ZTT album filling the space between Andrew Poppy and Art of Noise with bits that sound like the sections of the Durutti's "Without Mercy" that don't feature Vinny's guitar. Very 80s.
