Tried this one this morning on Tidal. Can’t say it really grabbed me !

Any recommendations from their back catalogue? I’m generally pretty keen on Americana….

I really like Black Light and Feast of Wire from the early 00's and their In the Reins collaboration with Iron and Wine. The slightly more straight forward and rockier Garden Ruin is worth a listen if not quite as good - to my ears anyway.

Agreed - they're both excellent and I'd probably add 'The Black Light' to those two.
FWIW I'm struggling with 'El Mirador' as well.

Sorry - meant Black Light, not Hot Rail - don't know that one - edited post.

Incidentally Robert Plant and Alison Krauss included a (not particularly good cover of a) song from Feast of Wire on their recent record.

Hot Rail was the album that got me into Calexico - it's very good - but I think Feast of Wire is their best (so far).

Marvin Gaye : Whats Going On - Detroit mix. Recommended album release from Rick Rubin, a very wide and airy/immersive mix that hits all the spots nicely.

Dunno if the YouTube algorithm buggers up the sonics as im listening on Tidal
