Aye Pitchfork said something to that effect. Although I like a bit of Manu Chao myself if only becuase he has a gift for making music you can't possibly not dance to.

Can you recommend some of their earlier stuff?

I have their previous album Wati, which sounds better and punchier to my ears, although it is bit rockist - their forte is supposed to be Malian "Blues". Apparently the ones to have are the cassettes you can find in Bamako and elsewhere in West Africa. I have none, but they are real gems by all accounts.
Aha, this is good: http://cgi.ebay.com/Amadou-Mariam-T...goryZ307QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Back to the Fall on vinyl.......

Just in from Shishter Ray by mail order and Heads Roll is absolutely storming - if this record doesn't put a smile on your face then you have no soul. It's bloody hilarious.

Later from the same batch - Patti Smith - Trampin on double heavy vinyl - then a DJ friendly 200g LCD soundsystem dbl.

Yeyah!

At home today...ahem..working.

Been jazz (New Orleans) most of the day

but now: Bjork - Drawing Restraint 9 on vinyl, good stuff indeed

The Fall's new one, Fall Heads Roll. Must pick up the vinyl too, like the last Fall LP, it's really very good, hurrah.

To celebrate National Pixies Day(*):

Was : Bossanova

Is : Doolittle

Will be : something in the car.

(*) - there should be one of these.

Paging our American Cousins........

Apparently Heads Roll is out on a double vinyl pressing in the US of Eh.

Anyone know where I could get one?

Trésors de la musique algérienne - double CD from the archives of radio Algeria. Some wonderful things in here even if the sound quality is a bit painful from time-to-time.
