Essential Logic, Beat Rhythm News. I was always in love with Lora Logic.

Missa Luba - Congolese Mass and Folk Songs (liner notes by Studs Terkel)

Finally found a good copy on vinyl. That makes three of the Philips Connoisseur Series ethnic mass recordings I have: this one, the Misa Criolla, and Misa Flamenca/Misa Mozarabe.

I had thought that was all of them, but the inner sleeve of this one mentions Missa Bantu - Les Souers Blanches of Katana. Another one to look for.

Was: Richie Havens - Stonehenge
Is: Richie Havens - Portfolio
Will be: Richie Havens - Something Else Again

A deep dive into Mr. Havens' work, via three pristine lps picked up yesterday. Awesome stuff.

Birds of Fire, Mahavishnu Orchestra. Their 2nd album.

Dated sounding, especially some of Jan Hammer's keyboard stuff, but also some wonderful tunes and playing. A real lift and dynamic to some of this.

Although I like this even more:

Ash Ra Tempel - Friendship

and next

Ash Ra Tempel - Gin Rose

(Not really Ash Ra Tempel, just Manuel Gottsching & Klaus Schulze but pretty good nevertheless)

Factory Star, Enter Castle Perilous. Had this for a few weeks, but the vinyl finally arrived today. Martin Bramah's latest group, really excellent, and a nice pressing and cover.
