Another useful post Joel. Your second choice above is indeed beautiful.

I'm getting the feeling that my purchase of the "Music of Central Asia Vol.1" in hard copy was the wrong one. I have been waiting nearly two weeks now, for delivery from an Amazon seller. I hope he is just on holiday.

No it wasn't, the packaging is luvleh

Obo Addy & Okropong - Wonche Bi

Fantastic Ghanaian drum ensemble. Saw them live here at the U. of Oregon on Saturday night; Addy himself is 70 years old and can still kick ass and take names.

What I really meant to say was that I should have downloaded it. At least I would have been listening to it for a couple of weeks now. I am most jealous.

What's the story with Amazon Marketplace sellers, do they not have to take their list down when they are missing in action, or summat?

Evan Dando, Live at Brattle Theatre
Lemonheads, Shame about Ray
Lemonheads, Come on Feel the Lemonheads
Evan Dando, Baby I'm Bored

The Lemonheads are playing tomorrow a couple of streets from us. Too good to miss. For me Dando is one of the best songwriters of the last 15 years. Great pop ( as in old style guitar, bass drum/ 3 chords / chorus) songs, a fine singer and a good lyricist:
" A broken heart and two black eyes/ but you should see the other guy"
Sure he's a buffoon, sure he did too many drugs and behaved like an idiot, but they are great, great songs.

Not sure- where is it shipping from? I used Import CD Specialists who I've used a couple of times now, they're generally very quick but if it gets stuck at customs or something you may have a problem (assuming its not in the UK or has shipped of course). They did manage to send me the wrong CD though which is annoying as I'll have to wait again.

Ah, sorry. If you have been waiting ages and can't get any email response there is a problem with your order button on the account page somewhere, I think there is stuff about what to do on that.

My favourite's from Alison's Starting to Happen: "She's the pebble in my mouth and underneath my feet/ She's the puzzle piece behind the couch, made the sky complete."

Currently learning how to be groovy with PFunk – Mothership Connection.

Was Herbie Hancock "Head hunters"
Is Roy Harper "Sophisticated Beggar"

We've just moved house and the first box of records opened was the H's

Simon

Popol Vuh - Aguirre. Great film and great soundtrack. No grandstanding, just very beautiful sweeping sounds.

"Right Time Wrong Speed" a double CD of John Peel favourites from 1977 - 87.

I still miss him so much because of tracks like the one that's on now, "Trumpton Riots" by Half Man Half Biscuit.

A reet good sesh following some new arrivals from postie:-

A Certain Ratio - Flight (12"). One of the great post punk 12's. 3 great tracks - probably ACR's best release.

Orange Juice - The Heather's On Fire (LP). A minty vinyl version from Canada which I won on eBay last Thursday and was delivered today! All the Postcard A's and B's plus 4 BBC session tracks. Total classic.

The Daintees - Live at The Empire Rooms London 28/6/84 (CDR). Not at their best but still good and funny as **** in parts e.g. Stephenson describing the sound man as "a ****ing joke". He was young and angry back then!

The Go-Betweens - Live at The Empire Rooms London 28/6/84 (CDR). They were headlining - whupped The Daintees' asses to be honest. They were like an Aussie Velvets back then I reckon.

Jah Wobble - Betrayal (LP). Cool sounds.

Hot Licks Cookies - Half Baked (CD). Old timey songs in a 20's stylee. The polar opposite to ACR!

Cheers

Rich

Davey Graham 'Folk Blues and Beyond'

He's quite good a good acoustic guitar player.

next: Little Feat bootleg from '73 just for 'Fatman in the Bathtub' (Could this be about Jim Morrison?)
