My son's Philips CD104 CD player in his system with the SAA7030 oversampling chip removed + non oversampling/reclock circuit in place is so good despite being only 14 bit now, after listening to my son's CD104 in my system I have bought another CD104 it will be replacing the Cambridge CD4 se. in my system.

I bought a pristine CD104 off eBay, this CD104 even arrived in it's original cardboard box & it works, though sold as defective ie not reading CD's.
John jnr will be sorting the "griplets" I have ordered another "Nos reclock PCB" via eBay from Bulgaria.

I will update on completion...

My son John jnr dismantled the recently bought CD104 as he did before; drilled the "griplets" soldered in some sliver wire (left over from DIY phono leads) dismounted the SAA7030 soldered on a 24 pin chip socket pluged in the NOS/reclock circuit off ebay then cut a track on a PCB then soldered in a 1K resistor to allow 14 bit operation; all in about an hour.

The result is superb plays better, more naturally sounding in my system than my Cambridge CD4se though of course lacks the convenience of a remote control.
