now that's a rally cry to stir the hearts of the impoverished masses.

That wall... in the backdrop. It is called "The Wall of Peace" and is at Civic Center Park in Berkeley it consists of thousands of hand-painted tiles.made by kids in the neighbourhood schools. It was so massively oversubscribed that Berkely BART took the overspill for the station. It then added to a huge community art project that brougt together all the schools in the Bay area to add to municipal community activism and art projects.

Walls of peace, Trump's wall of fear, the backdrop's context adds extra to that image.

I used to sit on it and eat tacos (or was it burritos?) (while chatting to my then girlfriend) smoking pot drinking coffee from the shop that is still there on the corner of Univerity and Telegraph.

Interesting that Trump is demanding a congressional investigation into baseless Obama Wiretaps. Despite no proof. Congress is not an endless time and money pit for investigations, and they have plenty on their plate examining Trump and his staff picks. Surely not another means of trying to dilute and divert attention? Not only for the media but to keep congress tied up in wild goose chases while the real job of unearthing Trump's very murky goings on are underway.

He want's a congressional investigation? The Democrat cries of "Bring it on" will do just that. Dilute and Divert. As usual. Trump is manipulating things.

yank, isn't it high time for a whistle-blower from the IRS to hand a copy over to wikileaks?

Leaking federal tax returns from the IRS without getting caught is quite hard because of their internal controls and it's a serious enough crime that you would get several years of jail time which is why they never leak.

As there are only two possible outcomes, I am slightly more optimistic. First, investigators find nothing and Trump looks foolish for having hurled yet another baseless allegation. Second, they discover that a federal judge found probable cause of foreign spy activity in Trump Tower. Of course, unless another Snowden emerges, the details of this FISA warrant will not be made public.

Given Clapper's statement today, odds are strongly in favor of this simply being more Trump bullsh*t.

Add it to the long (and growing) list:

"Because Trump has never released his tax returns, no one really knows."

vuk.

I'm not stopping him...

FBI reportedly contradicts Trump's claim:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-39175962

'FBI director James Comey has rejected Donald Trump's claim that his predecessor, Barack Obama, ordered a wiretap of his phone before he was elected US president, US media say.
Mr Comey reportedly asked the US justice department (DOJ) to publicly reject Saturday's allegation, according to the New York Times and NBC.

He is said to have asked for this because the allegation falsely insinuated that the FBI broke the law.

The DOJ has not commented.

US media quoted officials as saying that Mr Comey believed there was no evidence to support Mr Trump's allegation.'

The only evidence now is the voices in Trump's head.

Sadly that is all he needs as with the help of the likes of Breitbart, Infowars etc his idiot voterbase will lap it up.

The story, as told by James ? (can't remember his second name) on LBC this morning was that Trump heard the claims on the radio and tweeted the claim unchecked. Truly a nut job if it's true...

It seems funny that Comey publicly asks the Justice Department to publicly say there was no tap, staying one-half step away from just saying "As Director of the FBI, I state there was no tap." My guess is he's playing this game because he can't get anyone in Justice to tell him to go ahead and issue the denial.

One can only wonder if the half-step will be enough to keep Trump from firing him. Of course, FBI Directors are in general thought fireproof because they know hot stuff that presidents don't want revealed. This president may be different, though. Interesting times.

The President is asking for a congressional investigation. I'm for that. I think in fact they should investigate this outrageous charge by Trump as a 'high crime or misdemeanor.'

Unlike Sweden's where everyone's tax return is published.

As Tony said, Trump is playing to his supporters and no longer cares what mainstream news says. It's now clear this has been his strategy since day one. I hope this is a miscalculation and that enough of his more moderate supporters are intelligent enough to see right through it.

Morning Joe Scarborough (from one of Trump's favourite shows) had decided that Trump is crazy and dangerous.

"His tweets this weekend suggest the president is not crazy like a fox.
Just crazy." https://twitter.com/JoeNBC/status/838502031379722241

"When a reality TV star pushes that conspiracy, it's disgusting. When a sitting president behaves the way he has this weekend, its dangerous."

Like, who knew...

As an aside these weekend flights to Mar A Lago every ducking weekend are costing the American taxpayer quite a lot. $3m approx per visit. Plus all the high grade public paid security for Trump Tower. For four years the US people are bankrolling an extravagant way of life that he should be paying out of his own pocket seeing has he has not divested himself of his businesses interests and seeing as he is so successful.

I think if someone ploughed a tonne of weedkiller over his golf courses and poisoned his water supplies I might possibly applaud -- except the taxpayer would foot the bill for cleaning that too.

If you voted for Trump, you got scammed, bigly.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/mar/04/donald-trump-travel-costs-mar-a-lago-taxpayers

By one sketchy estimate, Trump and his family, in their security and travel demands, have already rung up as much in accounts payable by taxpayers as the Obama and Biden families did in eight years, a figure elsewhere calculated, by the Washington DC-based Judicial Watch, as topping $97m.

There's no way that could be true...

Trump cannnot concentrate on voices without a Fox, Breitbart or Infowars logo on the screen.

The path seems to have been Talk Radio Rant ==> Brietbart ==> Trump.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/05/us/politics/trump-twitter-talk-radio-conspiracy-theory.html

He has with this convinced another swath of opinion, across the US and in DC, that he's too irrational to be President. But until 67 senators are prepared to vote him out, he stays in.
