TPU bicycle inner tubes

foxwelljsly

Me too, I ate one sour too.
One for the PFM cyclists….

Thinking about trying some TPU inner tubes and lighter tyres to pep up my commuting bike.

Anyone tried them?
I was wondering if they are sufficiently puncture resistant for me to get away with lighter, quicker tyres than the durano DDs I’m currently using.

Bike is just under 11kg unladen all-in, runs 700x28 tyres and is used 1-3 times a week for an 80km round trip and carries full change of clothes plus laptop etc. in a pair of small rear panniers.

Cheers

I haven’t had much luck with the schwalbe aerothane TPU tubes. I bought 3. One developed an unrepairable puncture before it was even ridden, the second developed three separate air leaks after a couple of months of riding (while the bike was not being used).

The third one is still ok but i am not holding out much hope. For the price not good enough by far.

I am trying out another brand (WTB) because i like the premise of the technology. If this isn’t a success then it’s back to butyl tubes.
