Concert performance live from the Festival Hall tomorrow (Saturday) at 6.30

Rarely heard, not to be missed as far as I am concerned.

Still hoping for a performance to match the 1955 premiere recording but with sound quality more in keeping with the Colin Davis recording, which I find somehow an unsatisfying performance.

I remember the 1980s ENO production (with Lesley Garrett before she was famous) fondly. One of their finest moments, and a wonderful work.

The Davis version of the Ritual Dances excerpted from the complete recording on a Philips LP has one of the best orchestral bass drums ever recorded
