Time for a motorbike list

Has anybody mentioned the 334 HP, 2.0L V8 PGM motorcycle from Australia? It has a top speed = 'How Brave Are You'.
I read somewhere it has two R1 engines fused together and will cost over £100K. I'd pay for a test ride.

Mind you I once did over 130mph on mine and the wind blast was ridiculous, no way
could you do shoulder checks...unless you've got serious neck muscles.

The H2R is totally badass and a bike I will probably never own...tyres lasting 1,000 miles. And they are not off the shelf tyres either.

In fact, Kawaski is the current cool manufacturer in my opinion. The ZX10 is mean, the H2R is nuts and the Z900RS is the coolest retro bike.

I still like Kawasaki green. Having had one bike powdered in ASBO orange I would like to get another sprayed in Kawa green. I'm currently building up a Specialised Hardrock, if I like the way it rides then it's a good candidate for the work. If not then the single speed thing I built is the choice. It has black wheels so a green frame, some white trim and we are there, it would be as cool as a penguin's knackers.

Look, there's plenty of cycling threads here. About one a week....

Lovely!

New bike delivered yesterday:

I went to the local Triumph dealer a couple of days ago to discuss the purchase of a Daytona only to be told it had been discontinued. Baffling particular given they are banging on about supplying the engines for Moto 2 and now no longer have an equivalent in their range. Can I ask why you (and many others) don't want a fairing?

I thought the 2 stroke triples were Suzuki, GT380, GT 750 etc. ?
That's because he missed a comma. He means "...the coolest Z900, the 2 stroke triples, ZXR750, etc." It's the old "Eats, shoots and leaves" gag.
A mate has just finished restoring a GT380, it looks great. He's spent a small fortune, been DIY replating, all sorts. The values of the things are on the up, he paid £2k for a cosmetically tired but sound one, he's been offered 6k by a dealer, similar examples are 7k in dealers. That's the power of nostalia, £6k when RichG is picking up a lovely looking 'Blade with less than 20k on the clock for £2k.

Oops, just realised the GT380 is a Suzuki. 2 str triple though.

Only the R6 is left..there are a few reasons why people don't want 600s and or fairings any more. One reason is price. Not just the extra cost of the fairing but the fact that people seem to think 600s should cost six tenths the price of a thou when it costs more like nine tenths to make one. The other main reason is bikers are mainly old duffers now and would rather have bars than clipons to make life easier for their wrists and backs. I might also add that faired sports bikes are becoming redundant on the road. 14,000rpm and 90mph in first gear is not much fun unless on a track. Finally, faired bikes in the touring sector have been given a thumping by the posing old men who think they are going round the world, off-roading on a GS. In fact they are just going to Whitby on an A road for fish and chips, then home.

I think that just about covers it.

There's no bike as elegant as a faired sports bike in my opinion.

I am pretty close to an old duffer now and so would struggle to hang onto the handlebars in the breeze on an unfaired bike.

I recommend a new Ducati Supersport or Kawasaki Z1000SX for fast comfy bikes with fairings and attitude

Wow, missed this thread, only had:

Suzuki GP100
Yamaha RD350LC

Would love another bike now but decided not to once I had kids.

Cheers BB

I don't like fairings because many cover up the engine and exhaust manifolds that I like seeing. Also if you can't feel the wind and look around at the sights as they fly then its not really biking in my book.

I live in the city and most sports bikes just can't turn in between stopped cars. Filtering also requires narrow handlebars and that's were big fairings and adventure sports just can't do it. Nakeds do it in the city.

I don't understand why people buy those double front wheel things or even the bigger scooters. What advantage worth having do they have over a normal motorbike?

I'm with you for an inline 4 with shiny stainless manifold coming down the front in clean straight lines and a simple link pipe to silencer. But these days most exhausts look like an EU dog's dinner, so bikes are better than ever with fairings. Look at what Euro 4 has done to the KTM Duke 1290: https://www.google.de/search?q=2019+KTM+1290&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=Ql0cQUEO8Q_vHM%3A%2C3QcMdvOVBm0liM%2C_&usg=__Ree-O9pBvOKC3Nv-BiO_rhuRrt4=&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj9lNz_hJrbAhXG26QKHXu0AmYQ9QEIKzAB#imgrc=Ql0cQUEO8Q_vHM:

Looks like a mechanic left an oil pan under the bike.

MV Agusta is the same. Great triple silencer fanning out, ruined by a lump of shite in front of it. https://www.google.de/search?q=2018+mv+brutale+800&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=-iDZdykvZANveM%3A%2CI5ro-qygtSjT6M%2C_&usg=__LkRnMRPxaoMhUNllrWApff1hq9o=&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwie6derhZrbAhXC16QKHV0QBSsQ9QEIMTAE#imgrc=-iDZdykvZANveM:

Z900RS and CB1000R do a reasonable job but mostly nakeds are a big turn off or me now.

:)

Indeed. No mention of the EwanMcBoorman wannabes standing up on the pegs to negotiate those tricky Tesco car-parks mind you..

Wow! That's like Speedway on a sports bike or is it called 'drifting the corners'? Awesome risk taking.

Standard procedure on GP bikes these days - but just makes you realise how skilled the pro riders are.

There are pros, and then there are pros mind you..

Still manages to make the apex :)
