Thorens TD124 MkI Vs MKII

I had a very early MkI for a while that had already had the bushings replaced, it was a nice deck, in fact it was the quietest of the three 124s I've had so far. I never got to hear it though as I landed the Mk II around the same time, and that was in better cosmetic shape, so I kept that one. It would be nice to find a really mint MkI one day, I quite fancy one, and I do have a hunch that the step pulley arrangement may be quieter / superior to the Mk II.

There is a slight visible difference in the motors in that the Mk II has holes in the sides of the bottom shell to aid oiling the bottom bearing.

Agree totally with Strange Brew. I have gone down a similar route with my TD 124/2 sent it to Schopper AG: had a full refurb and every upgrade and its the best deck I have ever had.
