They made some of the most amazing pop songs of the 60s, very much their own sound, Pictures of Lilly, I can see for Miles, Substitute. They basically created 'Rock' in 1966.
If you can find it, The blu ray of The Who live at Kilburn from the year before is fascinating and pretty amazing. It also comes with a whole '69 concert as an extra.
