The Tenth Anniversary Wam show . March the 18th 2018

Thanks to everyone who braved the horrid weather to get to the show yesterday. I had a fairly steady stream of visitors to my room (110) through the day and most were complimentary about my DIY amps and speakers. I managed to get out and about for a bit whilst Cameron room sat for me (Thanks Cameron) and had a wander around the top floor. I was genuinely impressed with all of the systems that I heard over the weekend.
I was there when you were out. Just wanted to say the system was one of the standouts of the show for me. These speakers are just marvellous! Absolutely great job on these. Well envious of your knowhow.

Thanks. :)

I'd like to take credit for the speakers (and power amps) but they were built by a friend and like you I'm in awe of his talents. In fact, you may well have bumped into him as he was in my room as I left and threatening to play noodly jazz to put people off!

In which case we might have had a chat. Apologies, somehow I assumed the creator of the speaker and the owner were the same person. Irrespective of that you're a really lucky man having such great and unique speakers. It's only a shame the show was one day as didn't spend nearly long enough listening to them :) Simply superb!

Thanks for posting the @i.j.russell . I'm sorry I missed your room. I really wanted to come but seemed to get stuck chatting!

I might just do that. Give me a bell next time you are having a get together in case I miss a post about it. I'd definitely like to come again.

A big thanks to Ian and Raphael for exhibiting the feedback from all the rooms was extremely positive . Hope to see you guys and more from PFM exhibiting or visiting next year

After missing the last two Sacalfords I really wanted to go to Kegworth, unfortunately Mrs BB told me on my 50th Birthday (05 March) I couldn't go, she had plans. Turned out our best friends came down from Yorkshire and we had a weekend in London, culminating in my first trip to Ronnie Scott's on Sunday night.

I'm going next year!

Cheers BB

I went to Kegworth after going to Scalford once before and have to say its the best hifi show I have been to by a long way and it really is different to trade shows. No one is trying to sell anything and there are real enthusiasts, some with huge amounts of knowledge. So many different types of systems and people were all really friendly. I think that with the snow it wasn't packed so it was great having a chat with people and hearing gear that I have heard of on pfm in the flesh. So many rooms to visit and so many characters. The Sony guy with all this 60's and 70's gear. The Avondale amps and speakers, some of the DIY and raspberry pi stuff that sounded great. The big reel to reel machines lovely to listen to. It was great that people were playing real music not just audiophile recordings of well recorded music that you get at the trade shows. I don't really go on the Wigwam forum very often so I didn't know anyone but I found it very friendly and down to earth. It really is worth making the effort to go and the day just flew by. I could easily have spent another day revisiting some of the rooms and I realise I missed a few rooms. I am already looking forward to next year and I want to thank all the people who went to all the effort of bringing their systems to the show.
Cheers Kev.

Sorry only one photo!

This was my seventh time I've exhibited and by far the best, I didn’t get out of the room until late in the day I had a great day chatting, listening and answering questions about my vintage set up. Quite a few people had a double take seeing a Quad 22 preamp driving my Naim inspired NAP160 amplifiers.

My setup on the day was as follows:-

Phonosophie No.3, RB600 Tonearm, Philips GP390 Ceramic cartridge with ESCC patatrace stylus.

Linn LP12, Majik sub chassis, Lingo MkI, Ittok MKII Tonearm, Philips GP390 Ceramic cartridge with ESCC patatrace stylus.

High Octane riaa phonostage (DIYaudio project)

Quad 22 modified and a separate psu.

Naim inspired NAP160 mono block amplifiers.

Marantz CD6006 CD player.

Restored 1978 JBL L40 speakers.

Sharif.

One of my favourite rooms of the day . As I said elsewhere a nice bottle of red and I would have stayed for ages but had other things to do

I was really impressed by your system when I heard it at Kegworth. Also your Naim-inspired NAP160 were sounding brilliant. In my humble opinion, the NAP160 was always the real star in their power amps.

Lots sounded fantastic at this show - I was shocked how good an old Philips CD104 sounded with active Philips loudspeakers!

Sharif got a really good sound, and the ceramic cartridge was stunning, really "why pay more" good. And I've seen the internals of his rebuild of the Quad 22 - pure audio porn - neat and precise in a way you thought had gone out in the sixties. Just beautiful.
