The snow has come ... in Norway.

I remember seeing snow in Geilo in the middle of August, a long time ago (late 70s, on my first Interrail) and it wasn't a light dusting either. Mind you, it is not exactly at sea level.

Dear PsB,

I remember the late '60s and early '70s up there and even in August great drifts of snow three foot high were always close. They never melted. Fascinating to a small child at the time. It did not feel cold, but we were definitely wearing vest, shirt and pull-over. That is forty and plus years ago, but it shows that things are changing. If Norway's mountains become like Spain, then Spain will become the Sahara.

When the Alpine glaciers disappear completely then the Italian rivers will dry up in summer.

When the glaciers of Tibbet disappear India will have a water crisis.

Global climate change is with us, and fortunately I am old enough to leave this mortal coil before too long..

Snow line down to 1200m on the mountains I can see from my flat and walking to work in Switzerland.
