The Premiership of Mary Elizabeth Truss.Sept 2022 - Oct 2022

Closer result than many thought. She needs to make a positive impact and quickly. Spending and debt levels are likely to go off the charts, which won’t please many in the party. If the energy plan works she might just see it through. Many will no doubt want her to crash and burn as quickly as possible. I’d suggest we all need her to succeed right now.

^^ What I and many others here and everywhere want is a hasty dismissal and demise of the tories, the sooner the better.

They are a disease that needs to be contained and banished.

Edit: It is shameful that a minority can vote in this parcel of rogues.

They portray a dark picture of this nation to the wider world.

It is unfair to the decent majority who suffer under this maligned what is so called a democracy.

The MSM should call it out for what it is.

Liz Truss embraces MMT:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...0-billion-to-keep-uk-energy-bills-below-2-000
Incoming Prime Minister Liz Truss has drafted plans to fix annual electricity and gas bills for a typical UK household at or below the current level of £1,971 ($2,300).
...
The policy could cost as much as £130 billion over the next 18 months, according to policy documents seen by Bloomberg.
...
Under Truss’s plan, energy suppliers will be obliged to charge households a reduced rate for their energy and the government will guarantee financing that will cover the difference with what they would have charged under the previous system, according to documents seen by Bloomberg.
MMT for large corporations, that is (though it also helps the rest of us, in this case).

I’d suggest we all need her to succeed right now.

This "rally around in everyones best interests" is only ever called upon when it's a Tory that should be rallied around.

Personally, the sooner she crashes and burns, taking her party with her, the better. The damage they've already caused is incalculable and unforgivable; I'm not getting behind them at this, or any, point.

Onward and downward. I'm just back from a very pleasant trip to England to visit family. We had a great time, but the NHS is totally broken (mother very ill, waiting months for specialist referral), the trains are totally broken (random cancellations on both trips we tried to make), the currency is in the toilet, and inflation is rocketing. Plus strikes by postal workers, dock workers and now barristers. I fear it will be a terrible winter.
When I left the UK in 1997 it was on its knees after 17 years of Conservative rule, and it seems the Tories have done it again, only this time the damage with Brexit could be even worse. If the Tories win the next election I will lose hope that England will ever recover.
Exactly the same things happend to us on our recent trip regarding infrastructure.......it hit us immediately as we walked off the runway at Manchester, piles of rubbish on the path to get to arrivals along with a blown plug socket within reach that looks like it has not been repaired for months. Then we got on a train and wished we had walked. Only difference is it is my father that has been waiting for appointments and operations, not my mother.

I'll get behind them if there's a steep cliff close-by

The Daily Record front page seems about right.

You’ll get the chance to have your say. 5th time lucky maybe.

The tories have comprehensively stuffed the country.
What we all need is for them to **** right off.

"I am returning like Cincinnatus to my plough"

According to wiki it is possible that he returned in later years as a dictator.

Previous four have been pretty lucky, haven't they?
Christ, to think some voted tory to keep Corbyn out.
A stupid and needlessly hard brexshit, two hundred thousand dead, billions stolen through the PPE con, billions and billions lost to dodo and her track and trace when the public sector could have done it for nowt and the tech solutions were already out there.
Oh and did I mention that the party of financial probity are now the party of the ****ed economy.
I didn't rate Corbyn much as a politician, but he's on a different planet to these inept grifters.

In terms of charisma and marketability I'd put here a notch lower than May. If she gets to the next election, the tories are goosed.

You may find people having their say takes place on the streets rather than via a gerrymandered electoral system. Patience with these crooks is wearing thin. Truss has no legitimate mandate to govern and increasing numbers are waking up to that fact.

It’s the system we’ve got. People don’t complain about it when it suits them, only when it doesn’t. The only way the tories are out is if enough people vote labour. Yet they won’t, they’ll vote Lib Dem, green, snp, plaid etc, split the votes and therefore seats.
