The Cure - love this song..

It's Friday night and decided it was time for another Cure session - the Glasto 2019 set... as the sun goes down. The tempo changes and really comes alive when they play Burn, at around 30 mins in.
Just brilliant..and of course, the Forest is in there...:

At University in late 80s. Why was it all the pretty, but slightly awkward girls loved the Cure...and stared into pints of Strongbow in the Union bar.

I'll get my coat! :)

Friday night...another 1980 concert (Boston). A little out of sync but what the hell... :

Currently enjoying the "Pornography" album and these are a couple of good live renditions of two of the better tracks on that alnum.

Always loved The Cure & A Forest was always a favourite of mine. First saw them in Sheffield in 1980 I think it was, brilliant, just been browsing my records due to an earlier comment on values & it seems I am sitting on a nice little earner with what I have. Which is nice.

LOL...just came across this article from a few years ago (OK, I don't read the Telegraph OK, it popped up on a search for Fela Kuti - see another thread!) 'rating' 34 Glasto's - 1986 with the Cure seems to rate highly...very highly..;)

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/music/n...t-best/1-psychedelic-furs-cure-level-42-1986/

"The Cure were best of all, playing an extraordinary set during which an electrical storm rolled in. The band's squall of post-punk pop played against a backdrop of fork lightning which cut across the night sky alongside their lasers, imprinting this mind-boggling night with force on the memories of anyone caught up in it."
Which is I why I posted this...:)

It's Friday night....an early fast version:

Friday I'm in Love..

It's been a while...but it's Friday night...

....and I just realized that the 'official video' version has not been posted on here before.

It's rubbish compared with pretty much all the previous (other than the visuals which are err.....OK...).. but what the hell...

It's been a while again...and this isn't a video, but an early 1980 Peel session....just excellent..

Can't believe this is as old as it is. When I was a young 'un and in my formative 'learning about music' years in the late 70's early 80's I thought Elvis was ancient history. That was mid to late 50's so call it 20-30 years old at the time.
Running up that Hill another 'hot' case in point...
I wonder if my kids (now all grown up) think in the same timescales...

Ha, it was the same for me in secondary school in the mid to late 90s. To me the hottest girl in school was a Cure head who I never had the courage to ask out. Fast forward 10 years to my school reunion I found out she had a thing for me. Teenage years eh?!

Just been listening to this...very good concert from 2013 (remembering the first link in this thread is from 1980!):

Friday night again...and this is pretty good....from last Sunday:

Nice lights but lost some energy and life?

A new song from the same gig...And Nothing Is Forever:

It's Friday night...and here's an almost live version ....uploaded just a few minutes ago from their gig tonight in Amsterdam..real time A Forest.... Yay!!!:):)

they played a forest at their brum concert on wednesday, i took my 17 yr old daughter to it (her first concert) - well she bought the tickets with the aid of my ex wife for my 50th. Daughter loved it, as did I but ive seen the cure before in Manchester. A great live band and their lesser known longer intrumentals work particularly well live, better than the spider song and the Friday crap which I could never get down with.
