The classical what are you listening to now ? thread.

Can’t get enough of these piano trios this week. Some smashing music here as I’m getting more familiar with it.Wonderful playing and recording quality.
In recent times I’ve become very fond of piano trios.

Mozart and Beethoven Quintets for Piano and Winds, Mozart Sinfonia Concertante K297b, Richter, Brain, Karajan, Philharmonia Orchestra, et al, Testament.
This is playing of the highest order, both in the chamber works, and the Sinfonia Concertante. All in excellent mono sound.

So niche that he didn’t squeeze into the Penguin guide to classical music.
Beautiful Hyperion recording of tragic, later 20th C. chamber music.

Mahler's symphony 8 by Wit, Warsaw choir and orchestra. I'm not convinced it's the best version out there as the blu ray audio version I have seems quite loud. I've yet to listen to my copy of it by Abbado-Berlin PO but I wouldn't be surprised if it's just better all round. Either way, it's still my cup of tea :)
