Can’t get enough of these piano trios this week.Some smashing music here as I’m getting more familiar with it.Wonderful playing and recording quality.
In recent times I’ve become very fond of piano trios.

Mozart and Beethoven Quintets for Piano and Winds, Mozart Sinfonia Concertante K297b, Richter, Brain, Karajan, Philharmonia Orchestra, et al, Testament.
This is playing of the highest order, both in the chamber works, and the Sinfonia Concertante. All in excellent mono sound.

I bought the complete Handel Opus 6 with Brown/ASMF (Phillips) in a little store in San Francisco in ‘92. Great performances and recording, I think it got awarded a Penguin rosette, but I could be wrong.

I am really enjoying Byrd and Bull, and I didn’t think I would. Such crisp playing.

I do enjoy these suites.If pushed I’d nearly prefer them to his symphonies.Some wonderful movements here. You just can’t beat Tchaikovsky for great memorable sweeping passages of music imo.Splendid recording.

Mahler's symphony 8 by Wit, Warsaw choir and orchestra. I'm not convinced it's the best version out there as the blu ray audio version I have seems quite loud. I've yet to listen to my copy of it by Abbado-Berlin PO but I wouldn't be surprised if it's just better all round. Either way, it's still my cup of tea
