Bought this cd in Jan,...gave it a few spins but found it a little on the boring side compared to Beck’s other works.
I finally gave it time this week and am very surprised how much I’ve changed my opinion.
These (imo)are not pleasant,light,undemanding early symphonies to listen to as background music but serious works to be given time and attention.
Highly satisfying.

I'm partial to some luscious strings as well and it just so happens I've got a CD containing the same pairing but from different conductors/orchestras. Anyway, regardless of the brand, as it were, no home should be without one

Beethoven symphony No 7 Karajan Philharmonia 1951.

I have maybe a dozen versions of the seventh symphony including at least two later Karajan recordings as well as Kleiber (C) but this is the best performance in my opinion.

I may be slightly biased by the fact that it was the recording I was brought up on, on a couple of single sided test discs.

Very pleased with Marcello’s concerti.Not at all familiar with his music except for one oboe concerto.
I always feel reassured about quality when I see Heinz Holliger being involved.
Looking out on my garden of flowers also seems to make the music so much sweeter.The bright red geraniums make such a pleasing contrast with the pink streaked white Regal lillies.
All very enjoyable on such a pleasant day.

When I first became seriously interested in classical music in my late teens back in the middle 60s,one of my earliest purchases on the MFP LP Label was liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsodies.
But for some strange reason I haven’t listened to any of the rhapsodies for decades.Probably because the few LPs
I possessed then,I played to death and tired completely of the music.
Now I’m delighted with this recent purchase of mine....Wonderful music and stunning recording quality.

Op 25 & 60 are two of my favourite chamber pieces - but op.26 leaves me cold. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
The tunes in Op. 25 are wonderful, while Op.60 is like heavy rock at times. Stonking - especially these performances.

Karajan, BPO: Beethoven 3, the 1961 set. These really are fantastic readings and beautifully captured.

Bach cello suites, played by Paul Tortelier in 1963. a 3LP box set from Oxfam for £10. Vinyl is mint. Lovely performance.

Pity I've got to have the fan on to keep the room reasonably cool. It's not the weather for valves.
