The best sounding piece of kit you've ever owned (or enjoyed the most)

In my room, I've simply been enjoying my current system to an extent I never thought possible:
-Gyrodec mk3/SME V/Allaerts MC1B (Gyrodec/SME lovingly restored and the Allaerts recently rebuilt)
-Rega Saturn (new laser + RCA connections redone, courtesy of Rega's excellent care for discontinued products)
-Graham Slee Accession phonostage
-LFD NCSE mk2
-Harbeth M30.1

Supratek Syrah which I never should have sold, now suffering (not much) with an Emotiva pre which also has tuner, phonostage and DAC which cost an eleventh of the price used.

Ah yes, the much maligned Thorens decks were cheap and cheerful, but less so than the Regas, really.
I find that my stock TD160/TP16 is an excellent turntable.
We’re they maligned? I think it’s an excellent deck and easily challenges the Rega and Clearaudio I used to own.

I just got a Black Ice Audio F-22 EL-34 integrated amp and it's bloody marvelous.

I think it may well be the best piece of gear I've ever owned. Sounds incredible on my Proac's.

Well, when the admittedly cheaply made Regas started to be sold in the early eighties the Thorens decks were well established and many small manufacturers had to push their products with the help of a few reviewers and clever marketing. I remember it well. In France it was different and the Thorens were always highly regarded.
I’d take a Thorens any time against a Planar 3.

I got the TT courtesy of a very generous Pinkie. It weighs a tonne with its aluminium plinth and I really love it. Arm courtesy of another Pinkie and an original Ortofon VM20e mk 2 cartridge which suits it very well. New ground wire has eradicated a minor hum which has really added to the overall quality of sound. Coupled with my Rotel 970BX phono equaliser it is rather potent!

The VM20e was an excellent cartridge too. I use mine with an AT VM740ML to great effect.

Most enjoyable - PMC EB1I’s
Best sounding - Chord TT2 & MScaler due

This may sound conflicting but I had to sell the big PMC’s following a recent house move. The Chord duo have somewhat helped me regain my enjoyment of listening to music albeit in a much smaller room.

I still love my Gale 401a speakers. After decades of ownership now (rebuilt along the way by specialist) - but still sounding F.A.B.
