The best Bond? Not sure I agree.

Out of the 5 James Bond actors since 1962, Sean Connery has been voted the best. Surprising result, as younger people would be more aware of Daniel Craig, who I think may pip Connery.

He's a rich man, Connery, with money in oil. When an American company mounted a hostile take-over bid a year or two back, he was heard to say ' it's not for shale'.

not surprised really. My SiL many years younger than me, well outa the connery era still votes for him. I think if youre a bond fan per-se you'd have seen all the films.

Personally D.Craig gets my vote.....

I did like Moore, very much my era.

Not that bothered about Connery. Craig is good but I struggle to watch a Bond movie now.

We watched 'The Spy Who Loved Me' the other night. I realised that I had never seen the whole thing from beginning to end.

We both commented on how corny it was - the world has moved on somewhat - which makes Daniel Craig look much better as a 'hit man'. But not sure about the recent introduction of so much background angst and personal, almost vendetta like, story lines in. A bit of the humour could make a welcome return these days perhaps.

But I did realise how very, very lucky Mr Ringo Starr is. Helps to be a rock star I suppose.

I’d class Moore as my first Bond, certainly from the perspective of seeing him in the cinema. He struck a great balance with the humour.
I did think however Craig’s first outing was superb in Casino and had really high hopes for the franchise going forward but latter directors I felt darkened the cinematography which I really hate and the movies felt more about Bond than the storyline.

Connery. His films were the closest to the books, part of the same era. And he had the most beautiful clothes, apart from that strange one-piece shorts and top by the pool in "Goldfinger."

Remember watching the Connery Bond films with my parents, he's probably my favourite. I like Craig and also liked Dalton but haven't enjoyed the films that much for a long time.

Cheers BB

Connery also. I also much prefer the earlier films. Goldfinger was probably the very best of all the Bond films. The modern films are baggy, overlong, have ridiculously extended fight/chase/action scenes and literally incredible storylines.

It always struck me that, with Roger Moore, the Bond films became slightly camp comedies (who can forget his slaloming down a slope in Russia on a ski-doo skid to the tune of "California girls"?). IT was a market they had to themselves. The harder-edged Craig films have to compete with the likes of the Bourne films of Matt Damon, and in my opinion don't come off so well.

Roger Moore was my firstin a cinema Spy Who Loved Me I think.

If is the film were Bond skis off of a cliff and he has a union jack parachute???

The whole cinema cheered when that happened. One of those spontaneous odd crowd things, quite beautiful in its way.

My mam took me, must have been about just 12 yrs. old.

I vaguely remember the movie being stuffed full of Sony gear of the era as well, reel to reel decks and monitors!
