Coulthard stating the obvious but in this case completely missing the point. The team has the chance to win the constuctors title and have the no1 and 2 drivers so the no1 driver needs to remember that he too is part of a team. It would be at least disappointing for the team to be denied this by one person not playing along. RB could of course switch Max's engine off during a pit stop or 'fumble' a tyre change if they don't get what they want ...

It’s official: Martin Brundle’s grid walks are a complete waste of time and effort. It used to be a highlight of the day.

I feel sorry for him having to do them, as the way F1 is going , the grid is becoming less and less in those interested in anything to do with F1 and the ‘party’ atmosphere is making it near impossible to have any meaningful conversations Sad times.

Winning 15 races out of 22 is an impressive achievement. Pity that part of the reason was the major opposition dropping the ball so completely. A lot of heart searching at Mercedes, no doubt, and questions from Stuttgart-Untertürkheim as to what they did with Mother's money.

It's the same for other F1 race coverage teams. No one will talk to them anymore, all the grid walk is good for is to stroll through the crowd and look at the cars. This morning, for example, Will Buxton made the mistake of attempting to talk to Mattia Binotto and was completely snubbed, he just turned his back and walked away.

'Tis the behaviour of the pantomime dame. [Which is what F! has become.] 'Look out! He's just behind you. Oh no he aint.'

John

Problem for the teams with grid walks is that every tom, dick and broadcaster wants to do them to the degree they become intrusive to the teams on the grid. No one would want an FIA flunky to do a semi scripted grid walk but like a lot of good things it has gone too far. Maybe stop for a while and shorten the TV programmes so there is less padding.

The grids are packed with slebs, freeloaders, sporty types. And I mean packed. There was no room for Brundle to walk, let alone see.

I am wondering if Perez is now regretting holding up Hamilton last year now. If Lewis hadn't retaken the position for another lap it could well have been a different result.

Personally, I don't think Max and Red Bull dominated the season, it is more the other two top teams gave them the championships. Ferrari potentially had the car but tactically was still racing as the third-best team. Mercedes got the basic concept wrong as they admitted, that they gave Ferrari a bit of a fight for second place shows that if they can design a better car then they could well be in the fight next year. Behind them, if Renault can get the engine to be reliable the team could sneak podiums next year and possibly get an opportunistic win, as could Mclaren if they can get the chassis sorted out. Next year will either be a great season or another RB and Max walkover. Hoping for the former but fear it could be the latter.

Checo won't be a threat to "the effin Dutchman" next year (crikey he even had a mewl during today's non-race) it's "play the game or you're out and Dan's in." It's really surprising that M-B cocked this year up so badly, less so that Ferrari shot themselves in the foot.

Coulthard is a real Max fanboy and can do nothing wrong even when he does ,he is hardly an unbiased comentator .Also Rec bull race strategy looked a bit suspect with Perez not called in at the optimum times ,Max got his way !

Checo passed both Vettel and Hamilton at the "wrong" location, allowing both Vettel and Hamilton to re-pass him. Had Checo known in advance those drivers would be eager to re-pass him he would have passed them in the "right" location or he just gambled twice and lost. It was close and would have been closer with only one "failed" overtake, or with no "failed" overtake.
Sometimes during the season Checo looked a little like Mercedes Bottas during races, a little sleepy. But things could have been wrong with his car at those moments, we don't know. This last race-weekend he didn't look sleepy.

German auto und motorsport website mentions Ford seems the preferred 2026 powertrain supplier for RedBull, Honda is said to come with own powertrain but is not willing to supply RedBull exclusively. So a return of Ford in F1 at RedBull instead of Porsche.
