Tannoy MG12R repair

The Gold leads come out from the cone sideways and loops back to the terminals so as to allow free movement of the cone, at a guess from the photo you’d need to add about 40 mm of thin tinsel lead to what’s left .I’d make the lap joint short, say 10 mm either before or after the loop section, this will obviously affect how long your new tinsel lead needs to be ( If you join before the loop you’ll need longer obvs). Protect the cone and surround from solder drips. A final thought:this is the kind of repair that is common in the pro PA world but these are vintage units and the ideal and recommended solution is to send the cone back to Nick at Lockwood and get him to completely replace the tinsel lead.

Ordered tinsel lead from SpeakerRepairShop.nl not the cheaper one on ebay only because some emails went in to junk. Anyhoo it's on the way so not long now before I can start enjoying listening again!
If I can't manage a tidy rebuild I'll send it back to Nick.
