Kate Bush has removed Rolf Harris from the 2018 remaster of Aerial.

Hurrah.

This is most pleasing for me as I think he ruins the record. (Aerial is a low point in the K.Bush catalogue, 50 Words is also down at the bottom, partly due to Stephen Fry and partly due to it being 'not very good.' All subjective opinion, I know there are many pink fish who like these albums.)

Quite happy for Bertie to replace Harris. In fact, anybody but a child abuser.

I have nothing against some of the the things you have taken time to list.

I am not at all sure what your post means? Could you rephrase it? Maybe in a more concise fashion?

Understand the sentiment, but in this case the artist is able to improve the art by removing the offending contributor and therefore provide a version of the art that is tainted neither by the miscreant’s unfolded deeds, nor his bloody annoying vocal. I appreciate that the latter is purely subjective.
 
My number 1 Desert Island Discs track is and will always be I'm the Leader (of the gang I am) by Mr G Glitter.

I think the point is, that sweeping things under the carpet and pretending they never happened never solved any of society's problems. Such as calls in the USA to topple their statues from the slavery days and calls in Britain for us to bring down Nelson's column.

Vinny's post sums it up nicely TBH.
 
I get the point, and on the whole agree that history is that and statues should stay up as a reminder of the stupidity and inhumanity.
I think in the case if the Bush remasters, she has a choice to alter what she likes, and removing Harris is a positive move in my opinion.
Bertie did a fine job at the Bush concert, so I would be happy to hear him. Lads got some weight on his shoulders.
 
It will help retain the value of the original versions, which is a good thing for collectors (I’ve got a mint first press of 50 Words For Snow one to offload sometime!).
 
Actually, the whole Rolf thing is pretty depressing. I recall a gig of his at UEA, with hundreds of students in Rolf masks and holding wobbleboards. He brought us world-music (especially native Australian) was a fantastic artist and a great comedian and entertainer. A renaissance man of sorts.

I recall saying post-Saville "if Rolf turns out to be a child abuser, there's just no hope."

Mark my words, it'll be the Clangers in court next.

I find the whole thing very sad TBH, the celebrity sex scandals, sex abuse in the Catholic church, the me too stuff, sex scandals in the charity sector; it does seem at times, that the very fabric of our society is a just a façade. It's deeply disturbing and I don't know what to make of it.
