I’m not British.

I like to figure out how (or if) things work before I decide whether they are worth it. The system in the article looks like it belongs with someone who is looking for expensive solutions to possibly imagined problems. Lots of dealers and online reviewers are available to assist people like that.

His system probably does sound fantastic (I mean, it should) but I would bet a large part of the budget could be cut out while achieving an identical sound.

Well Booja, it appears you've been influenced too much living in Europe, you'll be fine again after 6 months back in the States, where I do wish you luck with your family by the way. I'm willing to bet, he has demo'ed all his upgrades and knows what each individual item has brought to his system. He may well be very rich, he also may work 14hrs, 5 days a week we don't know anything about him, but it is up to him how he spends his money, and we shouldn't be having a 'dig' because you believe some of the items to be foo or overpriced. He too may well agree with you on the overpriced point, but of course the answer is, if you want it, this is what you've got to pay. Me, I'd love to go round and spend a day, listening to his system and talking to him, as I'm sure many on this forum would.

Nah, I've been like this for many years. I haven't missed seeing $60k+ show trucks all over the roads over here like in the US. The kind that have never carried anything dirty. I do love seeing construction materials being hauled around in Valencia on a moto or in a 3 wheeled Piaggio 'truck'.

And we'll be back. Maybe in a year or maybe two. Maybe France, maybe Italy. I can't wait. :)

My go at getting it right, how do you import images?

Use this https://postimages.org/, then copy the direct link into the images option on here.

Enough variation in System #2 of late to merit a 2021 picture. This is normally a Stereo 20 & JR149s, which are still both very much in contention, though there is now a choice of TL12 Plus and LS3/5As. A rather longer than intended TL12 Plus restoration thread can be found in the classic room here as they put up a bit of a fight, but working superbly now. This is a great sounding nearfield system. The SACD player is a Marantz SA8005, plus an Audio Synthesis ProPassion.

It’s a speaker cable thing, the Supra is not anything like as bad as say NAC A5, but it is still pretty stiff and I didn’t want to bend it too sharply! The amps are obviously square with one another, aligned with a right angle to the mm. Because me.

PS It looked a bit odd initially, but I’ve got used to it now!

I'll let you off then :p

It’s all in the details, lots of specialist (pricey) cables and tables. System runs on own radial mains circuit with separate box and lines for av, digital and analogue.
All mains is gigawatt, all hifi cables inc 7 avocados, kondo, except usb ansuz d2.
Brinkmann deck & arm , transfiguration cart, and Nyquist dac, melco server, meridian tuner, audio valve sunilda phono, vitus sia025 amp, and as you can see multiple stillpoints. Melco ripper mrcu lps, upgraded usb, amazing rips!

He's using a $5000 USB cable.

Interesting. I recognise the name from his publicly preparing to take Randi's million dollar cable challenge and having the grace to report what he heard when performing the preliminary run through test. That is rare and hats off to him for that. At the time he was clearly bewildered by what happened but it would seem even this experience wasn't sufficient to break down his belief in the properties of expensive audiophile cables. It is weird what people choose to believe.

Wow, dream system but what speakers are they - apologies can't see described them in your post?

My error, yes they are boenicke 8se, I had a local chippy knock up the matching black walnut threaded plinths and added the stillpoints, made a massive difference as swingbases not hot on carpets.
