Why not stick the speakers on casters? Best of both worlds.
 
You can get glider feet. I'm thinking of going down that route with my speakers, although to be fair they can be slid reasonably easily without, due to their large base area and inherent stability.
 
This is about as far as I sit from the system, got an amazing view from the window along the Pennine mountains to look at - sod room acoustics ;)

The preamp and DAC are built in the MC200 and all is controlled via an iPad
