Syd Barrett Doc Sky Arts 9 pm

kjb

Proof reading not always a strength
Doc about Syd Barrett at 9pm on Sky Arts tonight ( 27/4/24)

As more than a few on pfm are fans

"We wouldn’t have existed if it hadn’t been for Syd.” Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, David Gilmour and Nick Mason, along with others, tell the legacy of Syd Barrett in this trippy documentary – from his promising Cambridge upbringing to dropping out of art school to start a band that would have a comet-like rise to stardom, and the excessive drug use that led to him to exit the band for a life of solitude."

Part of me wants to watch this as an old and long term "fan" of the band but another part thinks "leave the guy and his legacy alone" because there will be little new information just maybe some unseen footage.

lol
but maybe it was news to some
It's saddest that the Syd's of this world attract attention that should be going to the living 'Syds' so they know we love them.

From the review

" But what keeps getting in the way is Barrett’s music. Although he’s hailed by some as a lyrical genius, the truth is that most of his output was grating psychedelic whimsy, and it’s hard to deny that Pink Floyd improved significantly with his departure " Should upset the hardcore Floyd fans:mad:
