Supernait 4 in the offing (or will it be 5?)

Tracking dealer ex- dem special offers when they all come at once is always a giveaway . Lot of Spendor speakers being sold off on mass by dealers
It’s easy to jump to conclusions about why gear is being discounted. Replacement by new models is only one of the possible reasons, and in the case of Naim’s Aus/NZ distribution fiasco it is nothing to do with it.

That is true. At least there is some benefit to customers in the significant price reductions.

It’ll allow some to pick up some bargains, but there may be a price to pay further down the line. Naim’s French owners have annihilated the long standing and highly respected import, distribution, service and dealership infrastructure they had. This was replaced by a setup that fell apart before it was properly up and running, resulting in the equipment selloff. The new importers are therefore saddled with an expensive new range that is being massively discounted by their predecessors, who are offering a reduced warranty with this gear.
Naim’s history of providing long term support and service has been undermined, some dealers have pulled out, and customers have been left in the dark. Frankly it’s an utter shambles, and the latest of a long line of complete and utter ****-ups from Vervent that have driven many committed, experienced and skilled people away from Naim. Sooner or later it will come back to bite them.

So, when naim put their prices up it’s ‘bad’ & when dealers offer discounts it’s also ‘bad’?

It’s pretty obvious that they are re jigging the range & no surprise that existing outgoing models will be discounted.

Pretty standard business practice, car manufacturers do it all the time & it doesn’t harm the brand.

This is simply the previous Naim distributor dumping their remaining stock onto the retail market to get rid of it. It has caused complete chaos in Aus and NZ for some time now.
Agreed, and as a result we are unlikely to see any new Naim products until the debacle is sorted out. Naim really lost the plt when they decided to take distribitution rights away from N.A. Distributors, who were instrumental in the success of the brand in NZ, and more recently in Australia.

Short term gain usually results in long term pain and the value of the brand in these territories mnay never recover.

Nooe. They are discounting new products, not just old ones. It’s the short lived previous distibutor that is doing the discounting, not just some dealers with a bit of old stock to clear.

Indeed. This has resulted in my preferred local dealer dropping Naim altogether as they were very frustrated with the distributor.
