My son has just bought a Rega P1 turntable and I want to build him a simple phono-stage. So I am looking for suggestion on fairly simple and cost effective designs with the best sound per pound. Does anyone have any suggestions for simple DIY designs.

Thanks,
Ian

I built a Muffsy during lockdown, just for fun, and it's very good:

You will have to source a case and an AC adapter. I went with a Modushop Galaxy case.

Graham Slee does a complete kit, the Genera, which I think is basically a Gram Amp, in DIY form. Sounds good, by all accounts.

The NAIT1/2 phono stage is about as simple as it gets. There was a recent post with some schematics I think.

I ended up building the Rod Elliott P06. Very simple and very cheap. I used matrix board and it seems stable and even though I used cheap and cheerful positive and negative regulators it sounds very good. My son bought a Rega P1 with the Rega Carbon MM cartridge, I am very impressed.

Thanks
Ian
