Starfish mods

cutting42

Arrived at B4 Hacker Ergo
Hi DIYers

I have got the Khozmo shunt attenuators and source switcher and fancy fitting them in my Starfish and resurrecting it in between drilling stainless steel - don’t ask!

I have always thought about getting rid of the Traco and fitting a couple of STR or similar. Anyone done similar, what was the verdict? What psu for the STR’s?

Edit, any other mods worth it?

Drilling stainless - good luck with that
Carbide (even re-sharpened masonry drills), lots of pressure, and low rpm seem to be the way to go: it work-hardens badly, & that right-quick.

I have strs in mine it’s a very good mod well worth the effort.

Good luck with the stainless!

Pete

Thanks Martin, I have had best success with some cobalt drills from UK Drills and lots of cutting fluid, high pressure and the slowest my drill press will go. I tried some TCT drills but don't seem as good as the cobalt.
