Speaker grilles - a couple of questions

Paul L

coffee lounge for me
I'm hoping the amazing knowledge on speakers here can help me out with a couple of things.

Firstly, it's time to sort the cat-scratch damage from a friend's moggy when it came here a while ago.

I've watched youtube videos on how to do it and am planning to pick up this typcial Amazon fabric and spray glue. Are these as good as any or should I use something else?

Secondly, I'll have some material left over and the moggy will no doubt visit again so I'm thinking about making some mini grilles to protect the RS10 BMR and tweeter.

I can make the frames and I'm thinking of using mini magents on the corners and the corners of those RS10 smal front panels. Will magnets close to the BMR and tweeter be a bad idea?

If you are going to stick magnets to the speakers, then the same idea will allow you to use velcro - far better IMO as it ought to hold better.

Those pulled threads - they don't look too bad - you should be able to pick them up on the reverse and pull them through to leave little or no trace on the outer surface - well worth a try as it will be quicker and cost nothing to have a go.

Get an embroidery needle with a sharp point, try to put it through the fabric ideally in the centre of the pulled thread, stop where the eye comes level with the fabric. Use a pin to tease the thread through the eye and pull the loop through. I've done this successfully with a few fabrics admittedly not on speaker grills.
