Not that Songs of Praise!

This thread is for sharing favourite music with a connection to faith.
I'm a dyed in the wool atheist, but love an awful lot of music with a religeous connection.

There is an awful lot of 'classical' music on offer in praise of a lord. Bach, Haydn, Messiaen, Mahler, etc, etc

I particularly like the Mahler 2, Adams El Nino and the Bach Cantatas

It's a great world out there:)

One of my many Achilles heals:)

I've heard little classical music, know almost nothing, and trying to get my bearings is overawing.
Have read threads in the classical room, but yet to pluck up courage & post.

I learnt violin in school/town orchestras before being called away by Yardbird dance hall concerts in 1964. Probably the best way of finding if you like something is to listen to BBC Radio 3 occasionally. I found that I liked modern music then Mahler, Bach, Tippett, Mozart and so on. Buddhist chant music and Indian Sitar music are favourites, also Sufi whirling dervishes!

loads of good Johnny Cash gospel tunes. I have a great compilation CD of them.

Satan is Real is a great album by two hard-living Southern Boys, well worth checking out if you like this sample.
