I think that was actually the hall that Adrian Boult was promised in the twenties, before he went off and formed the BBC SO. The Burghers of Birmingham were not too quick, hopefully London will be.
 
I thought this had been decided long ago. Perhaps the contract negotiations took a while. Now I understand why the front cover of today's Berlin Tagespiegel was "Vacancy" with an image of the orchestra. Can't think who'll they'll get...

Pehaps they`d like Andrew Davis, if it kept him out of London and away from the Proms.....
 
I've been enjoying the Berlin Sibelius on iplayer. Got to number 3, which I'd previously never liked but though was brilliant under Rattle
