PS: I first knew of AD Blumlein as a youngster back in 1974 when I was reading up on Elgar's recordings for HMV, which from 1932 used the Blumlein moving coil microphone [HB2] and moving coil wax cutter for 78 direct cut recordings. Even then it was clear playing the original shellac discs how much of an advance the Blumlein system was over the previous Western Electric [moving iron type] microphones used from the start of HMV electronic recordings from April 1925 till late 1931. I don't suppose that kind of interest was common among twelve year olds [then or now], and I found this film actually did fill some gaps in my knowledge of the great electronic inventor ...
