Is the Sigma DP1 or DP2 the best compact camera ? It seems to have rave reviews on some aspects, but serious flaws in terms of ease of use that are making me, as an amateur, hesitate. Views ?
One of the main problems with most small cameras is the noise in shadow areas. Both these cameras address that specifically and also offer extnded dynamic range for high contrast shots. Of course the limited F stop range on the Ricoh might be an issue with handheld shots, but it's a case of horses for courses methinks.
I still don't think they'll be anywhere near as pocketable as the Sigmas going by the lenses designed for the Panasonic G1 so far unless you count the pancake type lense which is in the mock ups.
I see Sigma are ready for shipping the DP2, DPReview have samples.
