Seeking advice on Tannoy cabinet refurbishment

Hi.

My Tannoy Devons are definitely keepers, but the cabinets need refurbishing. One cabinet in particular has taken a knock to the top corner on one side with the veneer lifting and a small piece missing.

Whilst it would be nice to get them re-veneered I think it might be easier (and a lot cheaper) to just fill the gaps with filler, rub them down and paint them. Or vinyl wrap?

I did some veneer repairs many years ago on a table which actually went ok, but I suspect the Tannoys would require all new veneer. Have veneers got easier to use now, as I seem to recall boiling up some weird animal-based glue pellets to glue the veneer down!

Your thoughts?
Mike
