Lots of hydro and scope for a whole lot more I would imagine, plus the colossal tidal resource off the north coast.
Lets not even talk about wind power... we are now regularly seeing wind-turbines generating all of Scotlands daily requirements.

Good Morning All,

Since the closure of Longannet I believe Scotland has been dependent on getting sufficient power for a 'black start' via the 3.5GW of interconnectors to England - is that independence?

Regards

Richard

Who’d have thought- an international market in energy?

Just checked: 24.5 Terawatts.hour in 2019 for the UK as a whole. As most of it comes from France and the Netherlands, I assume most of that goes to England.

“Is that taking back control”? There’s too many of those Coulombs coming over ‘ere for my liking.

They've done a nice job on the Honky, haven't managed to get down since last lockdown ease.

Maybe I'll make the Grey Horse if I can, better beer.

Quite a lot of wind comes from the direction of Holyrood Palace.

...is there royalty in town?

I am not suggesting anyone dislikes you personally, but your internet persona can be a pain in the arse, I'm not fond of it myself and I'm 66.
Sorry about that. Is that because of how I write a post, or because my opinion differs from your own?

There is no ‘internet’ persona. Quite a few members of this forum have met me and been welcomed into my home, so maybe a pain in the arse to those with a different pov but not to others. I am an average bloke with an opinion on some matters, just the same as anyone else who posts here. It’s a forum, people post opinion and will not always agree.

Next open doors I think I might go and have a look!

I'd be interested to see that too.

Cruachan is awesome and a standard school trip for kids, well worth a visit.

I've done the trip into the mountain at Cruachan and it's very impressive and worth a visit if you're in the area. I've also been up to the lochan that feeds it, on my way up to climb the Munro (over 30 years ago though!).

Looks like it could be that everyone except the Tories was in favour of a Green MSP becoming the presiding officer as 28 no votes, 2 abstentions and 1 spoiled paper equals 31 that didn't vote in favour. The Tories probably would have preferred an SNP candidate as with the presiding officer not voting then we're now at 64 SNP MSP's v 64 others.

I used to pass the Cruachan car park twice a month back in the 80’s but never actually went into the mountain till the the early naughties.
It really should have been used as the set for a Bond film!

Thank you for your apology for your internet persona being a pain in the arse, yes it's because of your abrasive badgering style of posting, your opinion does differ from my own, I am grateful for this.

No thanks for saying I'm talking nonsense, everyone loves you so you must be a good guy.
