Roon on a DELL R710 VM

I am thinking of giving Roon a try.

At the moment I have a 130TB server for Plex that runs on a Dell R710 for video and to act as a NAS for Audio files.

I could build a VM on the R710 to run Roon, but will it be powerful enough, anyone tried this?

I am running UNRAID not esxi. UNRAID allows me to build a very large array using many different size drives and have some redundancy. It works very well as a media server.

You can build virtual machines on UNRAID, I have WINDIWS 10, XP and Linux VM s at the moment.though only one is usually running.

The R710 has dual XEON X5650 CPUs and 96GB of RAM

That's what we were worried about - not enough horses in it :)

Hi yeah you server will be fine. I run unraid on something similar with plex running as well.

download the roon docker though no need for a vm
