Jimmy Greaves was an alcoholic for a few years in the 1970s, and managed to beat it (he once said to his mate Gordon Banks in the late 70s "Since we last met, you've become one-eyed, and I've become pie-eyed"). George Best was an alcoholic from the early 1970s until his death. Not really a comparison.
