Rega's new EAR headphone amplifier is now in store

EAR

New Design
Developed by our engineers the new Ear benefits from a completely new surface mount PCB layout based on the hugely successful Brio-R amplifier. Exceptional performance is guaranteed with the convenience of independent mute, volume control and multiple connectivity options to integrate perfectly into any users system.

Power supplies & Noise Reduction
The Ear pushes the Brio-R power amplifier circuit concept to a new level with the use of a low noise fully regulated supply. Noise has also been kept to a minimum by the use of an external mains transformer. The Ear exceeds the voltage requirements of IEC 268-15. This along with low output impedance makes it suitable for studio use as well as a hi-fi headphoneamplifier. The Ear operates in Class A at normal listening levels.

High Quality Components
The Ear utilises the highest quality components and our engineers experience to achieve the best sonic performance. Utilising the design ideals of the ‘cascaded emitter follower output stage’ with a pair of complementary Darlington output transistors, along with Polyester film and Nichicon FG capacitors in critical positions ensures it is our most advanced performing headphone amplifier to date.

Custom Case
Housed in a compact custom case the Ear is designed to match the current range of Rega electronics with a matching high gloss front facia.

The new Ear Headphone Amplifier benefits from an all new extruded aluminium case and new styling giving it more of a family feel to match its illustrious big brothers.

The Ear simply connects to the tape output of an amplifier via phono leads, the headphones are plugged into the front panel and there is a link socket incase you need your tape output sockets for other use.

The new Ear is also available in our new alloy finish.

Rega's new Aria MM/MC Phono Stage is in store

ARIA%20OFFSIDE.gif

Aria

MM and MC Phono Stage

Design
Housed within our latest half width custom designed case are two entirely separate high performance phono stages. One fully adjustable dedicated moving coil and one moving magnet. Each stage is designed and engineered to maximise the potential of your vinyl system whilst remaining easy to use and set up.

Technology
The Aria is an "all analogue amplifier" with no digital control circuitry. The fully aluminium case screens the internal circuit from any stray RFI signals. Our designers have avoided including any superfluous gadgets as they obstruct the signal path and degrade the sound quality. The Aria incorporates many innovative design ideas including a self-adjusting servo control to keep the MC input circuit at its optimum, compensating for any variations in ambient or operating temperature. Both stages have their own separate input sockets and input pre-amplifier circuitry. This enabled us to design bespoke input circuitry for each cartridge type without compromise. Signal switching is performed at high level and low impedance (via relays) ensuring there is no degradation of the signal.

ARIA%20front%20view.gif

MC stage design & features
The MC input uses parallel connected low noise FET's (Field Effect Transistor's) configured as a compound pair. The use of FET transistors ensures there is no bias current flowing in the cartridge coil so as not to upset the delicate magnetic geometry of the cartridge. The MC input has the provision for selecting resistive input loading of 70? to 400? and capacitive loading of 1000pF to 4200pF. The input sensitivity can be changed by 6dB, via the back panel.

MM Stage design & features
The MM input uses low noise bipolar input transistors also configured as a compound pair. There are two separate power supplies for each channel and further sub power supplies for each of the low noise input circuits. Nichicon FG electrolytic capacitors have been used in critical positions throughout the power supplies. Polypropylene capacitors have been used in the signal path and equalization networks. Discrete circuitry is used throughout the signal path ensuring full control of the circuit design.

Rega's new Elicit-R integrated amplifier

ELICIT%20R%20FOR%20WEB.gif

Introduction
Rega is very proud to introduce a brand new high performance integrated amplifier. Designed and engineered to the highest standard to deliver the best possible audio performance whilst remaining simple to use and easy to setup.

Our recent development work in amplifier design circuitry has allowed us to further advance the Elicit-R performance by using new and improved power amplifier circuits (based around the hugely successful Rega Brio-R amplifier). Combined with FET discrete line pre-amplifiers and a programmable stepped attenuator volume control ensuring greater levels of performance and control over the delivery of power. The Elicit-R is supplied with the new Solaris system remote handset offering full control over this and all of the current R range of electronics.

Elicit-R-front-view.gif

Technology
The output amplifier used in the Elicit-R was born after extensive research by our engineers to develop a low source Class-A* driver stage. Based around a complementary pair of Darlington output transistors forming an emulated Class-A driver stage.

Features
The Elicit-R includes a high quality built in moving magnet phono stage designed to maximise the potential of your vinyl system. A simple switch on the rear panel allows the same input to be switched to a secondary set at line level. This input is specially configured to offer further isolation and reduce noise. This makes it ideally suited for connection of more sensitive products such as an external MM or MC phono stage.

If your system is not vinyl based the same socket allows this line input to be used with any line level product (such as a CD player or DAC) ensuring maximised connectivity via the back panel. These features coupled with Polypropylene capacitors throughout the signal path, improved power supplies, increased output power to 100 watts per channel all housed in a brand new custom designed case combine to give the best performance Elicit to date.
