Rega P-10?

On the back burner, lots of activity with the DAC, RP1, two new integrated amps. Maybe it'll come in on the end of a new RP turntable range (new arm design) and named after an Egyptian deity ;).

So you are saying new 5,7 and 9 before the 10. This short reply would be Chines to most. What happened to 4,6,8 :p Are you a Rega retailer?

Oh. That looks quite easy to DIY in Birch ply or Tufnol.

The plinth dose remind me of the B&Ws Rohacell drives. Some form of sandwich. Rega should have a P-7/9 upgrade package. You keep all the goody's and they get the 7/9s plinths to recirculate.

Nah, just a big fan picking up snippets from hifi dave, hifi avenue etc.

Don't blame me, I know nuffink !!!

Actually, I believe that the chassis is some sort of Kevlar and ceramic sandwich to make it light but rigid. Other than that, I have no info.

Not sure whether it will be skeletal or in a plinth and absolutely no idea when. Even if they gave a date, you could probably add another year or two onto it. After all, the DAC was scheduled for May and we still haven't got them..:(

Why don't Rega go for the WIN. Completely machine from solid down to the motor cup, bearing well and first arm bearing assembly. While there at it machine the head shell/cartridge body as one. When the styles is dead, just like changing a cuter bit like below. Lyras have a bolt for the motor assembly right in the front.

Or just use a Keel with feet and a stand alone motor.

@Yank: No, it´s not. It´s HDF with some hollow areas. But it´s definetly no honeycomb or similar high-tech structure inside the P9 plinth!
I have a picture of the plinth somewhere on my hard drive...

Indeed, isn't the inside of the P9 already a similar skeletal, covered on both sides with formica?

Yes it is skeletal though I'm unsure of the material used for the core, but you can slip off the outer plinth for a theoretical improvement in performance as it exists purely to support the lid and for decorative purposes.
Looks like this:

@Robert: As stated in my last post, the plinth of the P9 is made of fibre board (as is with the P7).
